About the University of Manchester Women's Cricket Team
The University of Manchester Women's Cricket Club welcomes everyone, from people who have never played before to more advanced players. We have a coaching structure in place so that everyone is catered for, with two ECB qualified coaches and help from the men's cricket team. Currently, we have one team, who last year topped the Northern 1B league and came 8th in the National Knockouts. We also regularly perform well in the indoor tournaments, where the final is played at Lords. We are continuing to build on the start made last season of the setting up of a 'development squad' to ensure that everyone can play matches if they wish. We hold many friendly matches to let everyone play and experience a cricket match.
On top of all the cricket, we are a very social club, holding different socials most weeks, ranging from lazer quest and curries to pub golf and with representatives at the AU social almost every week. We also arrange a tour each year, destinations have included Newquay and Dublin, the itinerary includes a healthy mix of cricket, going out and sight seeing. So whether you are looking to improve your cricket skills or just to have some fun and meet new people UMWCC is the club for you.
We are a club ever-growing in confidence and talent, which was represented by winning the Gold Club Development Award at the AU Awards Ceremony last year. We welcome anyone who wishes to join and our 'work hard, play hard culture,' ensures that we cater for everyone interested in cricket. Our best outdoor results of winning our league and reaching the quarter finals of the national knockouts last season shows our commitment to the growth of UMWCC in seasons to come; especially as we look to continue to improve and match the success of the bigger Athletic Union Clubs.
